What is Rotary?
Rotary brings people together to use their skills, relationships and resources in community service. Members meet through local clubs, build friendships and work with communities and partners on practical needs. Rotary’s work includes peace, health, water and sanitation, mothers and children, education, local economies and the environment.
Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation
Rotary began in 1905 with Paul Harris and a group of friends. It has grown into a worldwide network of local clubs connected through service and fellowship.
Rotary International supports Rotary and Rotaract clubs with global programmes, leadership development and learning resources. The Rotary Foundation helps fund humanitarian service, from local projects to international initiatives. Local clubs bring this network to life through relationships with their communities.

How Rotary works in Nepal
Rotary clubs in Nepal are part of Rotary International District 3292, which covers Nepal and Bhutan. Clubs organise local service and fellowship, while the District supports collaboration and district programmes. Rotary International connects clubs worldwide.

How to join a Rotary club in Nepal
- Find a suitable club. Consider its location, meeting arrangements, service projects and the time you can contribute. Use the official District website to explore clubs.
- Contact the club and arrange a visit. Ask about current meeting details and any guest contribution before attending.
- Discuss expectations. Understand dues, participation, service opportunities and the club’s membership process. Expressing interest starts a conversation; it does not automatically confer membership.
Rotary, Rotaract and Interact: what is the difference?
- Rotary clubs: adults working together through service, fellowship and professional experience.
- Rotaract clubs: people aged 18 and older developing leadership and professional skills through service. Rotaract is not limited to people under 30.
- Interact clubs: young people aged 12–18 learning to lead and serve, with guidance from Rotary sponsors.

Meet the Rotary Club of Patan
Chartered on 29 August 1985, our club is based in Lalitpur, Nepal. Our continuing work includes PEEF scholarships, KPAD disability inclusion, heart health, youth engagement and environmental service. Explore the club’s programme summaries and project links to understand our work and partners.
Our regular meeting is on Mondays, 5:30–7:00 PM Nepal time, at Yala Maya Kendra / Dhokaima Café, Patan Dhoka. Please contact us before travelling to confirm the programme, venue and guest contribution, particularly around holidays.

Yes. You can offer a relevant skill, discuss support for a project, or explore a partnership. Email rwm@rotaryclubpatan.org.np with your interest, availability and the programme you would like to discuss. Activities involving children or vulnerable people require suitable arrangements with the responsible programme team.
