Animal welfare for public health in Harisiddhi

Activity date: 29–30 May 2025 · Harisiddhi, Lalitpur

On 29–30 May 2025, the Rotary Club of Patan supported vaccination and sterilisation of 105 community dogs in Harisiddhi: 38 females and 67 males.

The programme worked with the National Zoonoses and Food Hygiene Research Centre, Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 18 and the local community. It aimed to improve animal welfare, support humane population management and reduce public-health risks such as rabies.

RCP contributed NPR 300,000. The activity report records that the club funded the programme after an earlier proposal for shared funding with the Ward Office. Completion was reported to the club on 2 June 2025.

The programme connected humane animal care with community health. Its activities should be distinguished from any later measurement of changes in rabies incidence or dog population.
