Birgunj outreach: schools and disability inclusion
Activity date: 20–22 December 2024 · Birgunj
Fifteen Rotary Club of Patan members visited Birgunj from 20–22 December 2024 on an outing combining fellowship and service discussions, hosted by Rtn. Sunil Gupta. The group visited Asha Kiran Kendra, founded by Rtn. Gupta in 2015, which supported approximately 30–35 children with developmental disabilities at the time of the report. The centre provided meals, therapy, health camps and recreational activities.
The visit identified needs for urinals, handwashing and drinking-water facilities at Shree Nepal Rastriya Madhyamik Vidyalaya, and flooring foam and carpets at Shree Nepal Rastriya Janajati Adharbhut Vidyalaya. The submission recorded NPR 212,000 pledged toward a tentative NPR 250,000 school-improvement budget.
The outing opened collaboration opportunities with Rotary clubs in Birgunj and Hetauda. The school works and funding target were proposals at the time of this report; completion would be reported separately.
